‘Putin the Underwear Poisoner’: Alexei Navalny SLAMS Vladimir Putin as he Receives Jail Sentence’

Vladimir Putin’s most prominent critic, Alexei Navalny, has been jailed for three-and-a-half years, sparking anti-Kremlin protests across Russia.

The Russian opposition leader was arrested on his return to Moscow from Germany where he had been recovering from Novichok poisoning.

Prosecutors say this was a breach of probation conditions and in court, Navalny saw his suspended sentence for embezzlement converted into a jail term.

Protesters outside the courthouse where Navalny was sentenced were met with a heavy police presence. Russian police have detained thousands of pro-Navalny demonstrators in the weeks since his arrest.

Navalny recently released a documentary accusing Putin of owning a huge secret palace on the Black Sea coast.
