Dutch police opened fire at demonstrators in Rotterdam over new Covid-19 restrictions.

Peaceful protests turned into riots as hundreds rampaged through the city’s shopping district, torching cars, and throwing rocks and fireworks at armed police in chaotic scenes.

The city’s mayor says officers shot at protestors leaving at least three seriously injured after police initially fired a water canon at crowds in the struggle to contain the violence.
