Russian President Vladimir Putin said NATO has designated Russia as “an adversary” during a press conference following bilateral negotiations with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in Moscow on Monday.

“We cannot get past this - NATO’s 2019 military strategy explicitly identifies Russia as a major security threat and adversary. NATO has designated us as an adversary,” Putin said.

French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Moscow on Monday for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting lasted just over five hours. Putin described the talks as meaningful and useful.

On Tuesday, Macron will fly to Kiev, where he will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
