Dramatic footage shows the moment an excavator broke loose from a crane and plunged down a giant ventilation shaft at a construction site in Hong Kong.

The incident took place at one of the sites for the new Central Kowloon highway project, which includes a 3.9km-long tunnel.

A spokesperson for the Highway Department said no one was injured in the incident, which is currently being investigated by authorities.
