Spain: Heavy rains bring massive floods to Catalonia

Heavy rains caused massive floods in the Alcanar region in the Catalonian province of Tarragona on Wednesday.
The state service forecasts more heavy rains on Thursday and has issued an orange alert for a number of regions including Balearic islands, Tarragona, Castellon and Valencia.

TRANSLATION:

SOT, Maria Jose, Local (Catalan): “In Alcanar, about 11:00 AM it started to rain a lot, it was raining really intensely, it was a thing that we weren’t expecting, that amount of water in that short period of time had never happened before. What happened is that in the span of 60 minutes we have had 80 litres per square metre. It started increasing and increasing and it was flooding and flooding.”
