A wall of lava could be seen engulfing and destroying an entire house in La Palma on Monday, as the Cumbre Vieja volcano continues to erupt.

The house collapsed with a roar as a person were heard highlighting the “eight-metre” wall of lava tearing up the land.

The Guardia Civil patrolled the streets in the area warning residents to vacate their homes.

Reportedly about 100 metres wide and 6 metres high, the lava front is slowly but surely advancing at between 200 and 280 metres per hour.

The last time the Canary Islands experienced a volcanic eruption was in 2011 on the island of El Hierro, south of La Palma, although this was underwater.
