Spain: Hundreds March with torches in Barcelona for political prisoners amnesty

Around 200 people marched through the streets of Barcelona on Saturday in the traditional torchlight march carrying “the flame of resistance” for amnesty for Spain’s political prisoners.

Members of the Committees for the Defence of the Republic (CDR) and other demonstrators walked with banners displaying messages such as “During Christmas we want you in the streets. Total amnesty” and holding photographs of political prisoners.

There were no major incidents reported, with the police stopping the demonstrators to prevent them from approaching another nearby protest against the COVID measures.
