Spain: Hundreds rally demanding release of over 30 Beagles used for experimentation in Barcelona

Hundreds gathered in Placa Sant Jaume, Barcelona, on Saturday, to protest against experiments carried out by research organisation Vivotecnia involving over thirty Beagle puppies.

Participants held banners and signs demanding that the laboratory stop experimenting with the puppies.

Demonstrators also asked that the University of Barcelona break their contract with the organisation.
The protest was called for by the Spanish Animalist Party Against Mistreatment of Animals (PACMA) together with other animal rights organisations.

“We must continue to pressure the administrations, we are also assessing the intervention of the European Ombudsman, because the administrations here are hiding and manipulating information, they are creating a smoke screen with these animals, they are not saying precisely where they are kept, we have no guarantee that they are fine, and that is why we want the contract between this company and the university to be broken, and that they stop this company from continuing to experiment on animals,” said PACMA spokesperson Ivan Guijarro.
