Riot police engaged in skirmishes with striking metal workers and protesters in Cadiz on Tuesday.
Police engaged in a physical confrontation with the protesters and resorted to the use of rubber bullets. The protesters, in turn, responded by throwing objects at them and erecting street barricades.
Approximately 30,000 workers of Cadiz’s metal industry sector began an indefinite strike last Tuesday, demanding a wage increase and improvements to their working conditions. To date, attempts to reach an agreement have failed.
