State of Palestine: Clashes erupt in Beit Ummar following young Palestinian's funeral

Clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian protesters erupted in the village of Beit Ummar, in the south of the occupied West Bank on Friday, one day after 20-year-old Palestinian, Shawkat Awad, was killed during clashes.

Hundreds of mourners carried Awad’s body through the streets south of Hebron, before protesters threw rocks at Israeli military vehicles. Israeli troops responded by shooting the demonstrators.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that Shawkat Awad died of his wounds after he was shot in the head and abdomen during Thursday’s unrest. Awad was shot the day after a 12-year-old boy was killed by Israeli troops.
