German authorities have issued new weather warnings after deadly storms hit central and southern Europe. Strong winds cause wildfires in Spain, and falling water levels reveal dangerous treasure in the Danube
Germany’s weather service on Friday warned of heavy rain in the south of the country on Saturday after severe storms killed at least 12 people elsewhere in Europe.
More rain is expected, although not as much as in Germany, where the weather service warned of “extremely heavy, prolonged rain” along the edge of the Alps.

up to 140 liters of water per square meter (5.5 inches) can fall within 48 hours, which can cause flooding.

The German railway company reported that the storm disrupted train services due to fallen trees.
In the northern city of Bremen, a fire service spokesman said they had been dispatched to nine separate calls to clear downed trees in the area, although no injuries were reported.
