Sudan: Khartoum residents react after roads and bridges reopen in capital

Residents of Khartoum reacted to the reopening of most of the roads and bridges in the capital on Thursday.

“What is happening is still incomprehensible. Some people support the civil (rule), others back up the military. We want our county to be prosperous, secure and the prices to be low. The Sudanese people call for civil rule, but there are disagreements. Personally, I am in favor of the civil rule, and most citizens support the civil rule,” said one resident.

“I don’t support setting up barricades down the roads because of hospitals. My father is on dialysis and I suffer a lot when taking him to hospital; I know it is a mean of pressure, but it is too much. We support the civil disobedience, peaceful means and open strike, but we don’t support blocking the streets, especially because of the sick people”, he added.

Another local expressed his support for the military.

“We’ve been through the era of parties and the era of army; the latter is much more better. Now the Forces of Freedom and Change alliance have come to take over power and destroy the country. God has saved us with the Army. Sudan will raise by virtue of the Army,” he said.
