Sweden: Blinken, OSCE Foreign Ministers pose for group photo at Council meeting

Foreign Ministers of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and heads of attending delegations posed for a family photo at the 28th Ministerial Council, that kicked in Stockholm on Thursday.

The ceremony was held in two sessions with the first one attended by most of the top officials, representing their countries or delegations at the OSCE meeting. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken appeared with a smaller group of ministers for the second photo session after most of the delegates had by that time left for lunch. Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov was not present on the podium on either of the photo opportunities.

The Ministerial Council is the central decision-making and governing body of the OSCE. The meeting, held annually, provides the Foreign Ministers of the 57 OSCE participating countries an opportunity to review and assess the organisation’s activities and strengthen the dialogue on security issues in the OSCE area.

This year’s meeting comes at a period of heightened tensions between Russia and the US, as the US has repeatedly expressed concern over the Russian military buildup on the Ukrainian border.
