Syria: Damaged buildings near Damascus following Israeli airstrikes

Several buildings were left damaged near Damascus, after what witnesses described as remnants of missiles fell in Qudssaya, in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to Syrian news agency SANA, two waves of airstrikes were launched at 00:56 and 01:10 local time (22:56 and 23:10 GMT on Tuesday).

In a rare acknowledgement of airstrikes in Syria, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced airstrikes on Syrian air defence systems, including radar and anti-aircraft batteries, in response to a Syrian air defence missile exploding over northern Israel.

Syria’s air defence systems reportedly shot down some of Israel’s missiles.

According to SANA, one soldier was killed and five were wounded in the airstrikes. There have been no reports of casualties in Qudssaya​.
