The Collective Security Treaty Organisation’s (CSTO) joint Combat Brotherhood 2021 drills continued on Friday at Momirak training ground.

During the exercises, Russian and Tajik motorised rifle units practised defeating illegal armed group units with the help of special equipment and aircraft.

According to the press service of Russia’s Central Military District, Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters provided air support and carried out fire attacks on the enemy during the drills. The motorised infantry and tank units were also supported by a joint artillery group consisting of self-propelled ‘Gvozdika’ howitzers and ‘Grad’ multiple rocket launchers.

The exercises kicked off on Monday at the Harbmaydon training ground near the border with Afghanistan.

Four thousand troops and more than 500 vehicles from CSTO member states take part in the drills, which will continue until October 23.
