Thailand: Anti-government protesters clash with police on streets of Bangkok

Clashes between protesters and riot police broke out in Bangkok on Wednesday. Protesters confronted the riot police on major avenues of the city.

Riot police deployed tear gas against the demonstrators, as they advanced towards them.

Earlier, anti-government activists were seen at a rally near the Democracy Monument in the Thai capital performing a mock sit-in representing the deaths from COVID-19 in the Kingdom, aimed at criticising the government’s pandemic policy.

Thailand has been in the midst of an ongoing political crisis with violent confrontations amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
