Thailand: Hundreds demand PM"s resignation and mark coup anniv with motorcade

Opposition protesters took to the streets of Bangkok on Sunday to demand the resignation of the Thai Prime Minister and held a “cars against tanks” motorcade to mark the anniversary of a coup held in 2006.
Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra went into exile 15 years ago after being ousted by the military.
In symbolic gesture, protesters also wrapped the Democracy Monument in black cloth. A cardboard model of a tank was also unloaded as protesters honked in a sign of disapproval towards the rule of Prime Minister Prayuth Chan O Cha, a former military leader who came into power during the coup of 2014.
Street skirmishes took place towards the evening, with protesters using lasers and fireworks against riot police.
Prayuth survived a vote of confidence earlier in the month, the third such vote since 2019.
