Hundreds marched through Derry on Sunday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday that saw 14 people killed and several injured when British soldiers shot 26 unarmed civilians during a protest march. Relatives of the victims and others retraced the exact route of the protest during which people had been shot by British troops, on January 30, 1972. During the procession, people marched with crosses and coffin-shaped signs bearing the names of those murdered. The crowd sang ‘We shall overcome,’ and read out loud the names of the victims as part of a series of commemorative events.
