Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky appealed for more information on a supposed “full-scale Russian invasion” plan on Saturday during a press-conference held in Kalanchak.
“If you or any other people can give any additional information about Russia’s 100 percent chance of an invasion of Ukraine from February 16, please give us such information”, commented Zelensky.
Zelensky stressed that despite the availability of information received from the USA and other partners, the Ukrainian authorities should first of all “analyse all the information thoroughly”.
“I cannot confirm or prove false, to agree or to disagree with something that did not happen thanks to the Lord. There is no full-scale war on the territory of Ukraine at this moment. I, as the President, must communicate with my people having acquired some real information”, commented Zelensky.
In recent developments, a number of foreign embassies in Kiev issued warnings to their respective citizens, citing concerns of potential armed conflict in the country.
According to the latest guidance published by the UK’s government on Saturday, British nationals have been instructed to “leave now while commercial means are still available” amid an increased “threat of military action” on Ukraine’s borders with Russia.
Similarly, the US Department of State also published an updated travel advisory guidance on the same day, classifying Ukraine in their ‘Level 4: Do Not Travel’ category. The advisory warns of “increased threats of military action and COVID-19” and urges US nationals to “depart immediately via commercial or private means.”
In a published announcement on Saturday, following a call between Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden on the subject of the ongoing tensions in Ukraine, the White House warned that Biden was “clear” that a “further invasion of Ukraine” by Russia would be responded to “decisively” with “swift and severe costs” for Moscow.
