Ukraine: Rally against potential conflict with Russia takes place in Kiev

A rally against the ongoing conflicts between Ukraine and Russia was held outside the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv on Friday.

The protesters called for problems in relations between Moscow and Kiev to be resolved peacefully and through negotiations. People brought placards and posters with peaceful messages, as well as Ukrainian flags.

During the rally, people shouted slogans against war and also appealed to President Volodymyr Zelensky to recall the intention of peace declared in his election campaign. There was no official information about detentions during the rally.

On Friday, Volodymyr Zelensky said that the West is creating a false impression that a war is coming to Ukraine. Earlier on Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia had no intention to attack Ukraine and “does not want war” and is ready to have a dialogue with President Zelensky.
