‘US Capitol Riot Timeline: Prosecutors Lay Out Events During Trump Impeachment Trial’

Former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial has entered its second day, as prosecutors make the case that Trump was the “driving force” behind the US Capitol riot.

The impeachment managers, lead by Senator Jamie Ruskin, set out the sequence of events from Trump’s rally near the White House, to his tweets later that evening after the siege had ended.

Previously unseen security camera footage showed the moment the mob breached the capitol building, while the Senate was still in session, as well as Mike Pence being evacuated to safety with his family.

House managers and Trump’s defence lawyers each have 16 hours across two days to present their respective arguments.
