USA: Aerial footage shows massive spread of Alisal fire on west coast

The Alisal Fire on the Santa Barbara County coast was given more emergency personnel, resources and funding to fight it due to its rapid spread on Thursday.

Footage showed the view from the Santa Barbara County Air Support Unit’s Fire Helicopter 308 on approach to drop water over a residential area.

The cause of the Alisal Fire was still under investigation. The fire started in a remote location and its progress was dependent on how the winds behaved on the Gaviota Coast, where the flames first broke out on Monday. It was estimated that between 700 and 1,000 firefighters would be deployed to combat this fire. High amounts of property damage is expected.
