Democrat Eric Adams addressed supporters in New York City, Tuesday, after defeating Republican Curtis Sliwa to become the city’s second-ever Black mayor.
The 61-year-old former police officer had a comfortable lead of 66 percent to 29 percent in the mayoral race after over a half of projected votes were counted.
The centrist Democrat will replace fellow party member Bill de Blasio in January.
