Igor Danchenko, the Russian analyst and source of the Steele dossier, was seen leaving the courthouse in Virginia’s Alexandria on €86,000 ($100,000) bail after being charged with lying to the FBI.

Danchenko, who was accompanied by his lawyer, left the courthouse without commenting to the press.

The case against Danchenko is part of the FBI’s ongoing investigation into ties between Russia and former US President Donald Trump’s 2016 election campaign.

Danchenko has been accused of five counts of making false statements, with each charge carrying a potential five-year prison sentence. It is believed he will plead not guilty.
