Thousands of protesters, some armed with assault rifles, took to the streets of Sana’a on Friday, after airstrikes by the Saudi Arabia-led coalition killed scores of people in Northern Yemen.
Earlier on Friday, an airstrike hit a temporary detention centre in Yemen’s Saada province killing and injuring more than 100, Red Cross confirmed. The numbers of killed and injured are likely to raise according to the same source.
Saudi-led coalition warplanes had also launched airstrikes against targets in Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, late Monday and early Tuesday morning. Up to 23 people were killed in the raids, according to a tweet by the Houthi deputy foreign minister.
The strikes started one day after the Houthis claimed responsibility for an attack in the UAE that killed three people after two fuel trucks were struck in Abu Dhabi. The coalition has said it had carried out the raids against targets of significance to the ‘Houthi military’.

SOT, Hussein Hadi, Protester (Arabic): “We went out to respond to the escalation of the enemies and to tell them that we are here in all fields to respond to their escalation and to respond in kind later.
