Satellite images showed hundreds of vehicles queuing up in a massive traffic jam on their way towards Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International airport on Thursday.

Many countries have been evacuating diplomatic personnel, as well as local translators and aides, in the wake of the Taliban’s rapid seizure of power.

President Ashraf Ghani fled the country following the takeover.
