Taliban militants attempted to disperse protesters gathering around a pole with Afghan flags in the Loy Shinwari District in Nangarhar province on Wednesday.

The incident comes amid evidence the group has been replacing Afghan flags throughout the country following the collapse of the government.

The seizure of power was the result of a recent Taliban offensive which followed an announcement in April that the US and other NATO states would be withdrawing their forces from the country.
