Four Russian Ministry of Defence planes with citizens of Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) member states, (Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan), took off from the Kabul airport as the ministry’s press service announced on Wednesday.

People could be seen entering the plane, sitting on the seats, making phone calls, and eating dry rations. Also, the plane could be seen landing at the Aini airfield in Tajikistan and at the Kant airbase in Kyrgyzstan, from where people with bags disembarked.

It is reported that about 500 citizens of Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and the CSTO countries were taken out of the Afghan capital.

TRANSLATIONS:

SOT, Evacuated woman (Russian): “I am glad that we are going home, getting ready for school. Thanks to Russia, which helped us in such a difficult situation, because now it is hard to get to the airport. It is very, very difficult.”

SOT, Evacuated man (Russian): “The evacuation [passed] unexpectedly. It was lit, very nice. Usually, people wait to be evacuated for about five or six days. We were informed yesterday, and we are on the planes today. This is really wonderful.”

SOT, Evacuated man (Russian): “We are now in such a critical condition, my brain doesn’t work. We left everything; we have arrived (on the plane). We left everything there, so it happened. I don’t know what will happen next.”
