The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell warned that Europe is experiencing its ‘most dangerous moment of the post-Cold War period,’ during a speech in Brussels’ Bibliotheque Solvay on Tuesday.
“Europe is in danger. I wish it were different, but the last two years have seen a serious worsening of our strategic environment,” Borrell Stressed.
“I am convinced that today we are living through the most dangerous moment of the post-Cold War period, the most dangerous moment since the Cold War ended,” the diplomat continued.
Addressing the Ukrainian escalation, Borrell said, “We face the risk of a major military conflict on our continent.”

I wish it were different, but the last two years have seen a serious worsening of our strategic environment. We have to continue our search for de-escalation and contribute to all diplomatic efforts. Certainly we are coordinating with the US as I could never have imagined in a very close and permanent ways.
