China: City near Shanghai flooded as Typhoon In-Fa makes second landfall

Pinghu City was left flooded on Monday after Typhoon In-Fa made a second landfall near the city in east China’s Zhejiang Province.

Cars and people could be seen making their way through the swamped area outside the city’s Anshan Xiaocui Stadium.

Flood warnings were issued in Zhejiang while strong winds blowing at up to 100 kilometres per hour (62 miles per hour) were registered.

Air travel in the region, which includes the nearby mega-city of Shanghai, was severely interrupted, as were road and rail transport, while 1.65 million inhabitants were relocated on Sunday. Local rescue teams were working throughout the area to rescue people trapped inside the flooded areas.
