China: Residents tested for COVID as Zhuzhou under lockdown

Residents formed queues at COVID-testing centres in Zhuzhou in Hunan Province, as the city was placed under lockdown following a spike in Delta variant cases on Monday.

Shops could be seen with shutters down after entertainment venues, scenic spots and religious sites were ordered to close until further notice.

The measures came as 17 asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 were reported in the latest outbreak, fueled by the ongoing spread of the Delta variant.

Over 30 Chinese cities, including Beijing and Shanghai, have issued warnings requiring locals to stay indoors in recent days.
