China: Xi pays respects at Tiananmen Square Martyr"s Day procession

Chinese President Xi Jingping was seen attending a Martyr’s Day flower ceremony in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, on Thursday, in honour of deceased national heroes.
Xi, as well as six other Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leaders, led veterans, government and military officials in singing the national anthem before paying respects at the Monument to the People’s Heroes.
Nine large flower baskets were also symbolically placed by soldiers at the foot of the monument.
Martyr’s Day falls annually on September 30, in honour of those who have sacrificed their lives for China’s prosperity.
