Czech Republic: Voters head to the polls in general elections

Dozens of voters were lining up outside polling stations to elect a new parliament for the Czech Republic, in Prague on Friday.

According to election polls, Andrej Babis of the populist ANO party is still the frontrunner leading the polls with 30 percent, despite the Pandora Papers scandal.

Babis was hit by the Pandora papers scandal linking him and hundreds of other wealthy individuals with offshore accounts.

However, despite being in the lead, coalition-building could be more complicated as the newly united centre-right political alliance SPOLU and the progressive liberal Piratska Strana (Pirate Party) oppose Babis’ party.
