Dozens Killed in Taiwan After Train Hits Truck and Derails

At least 48 people were killed and dozens injured in a major train accident in Taiwan on Friday.

The train was emerging from a tunnel when it smashed into a vehicle that fell from a cliff and landed on the tracks.

The impact caused the train to partially derail, causing several carriages to hit the wall of the tunnel.

About 350 passengers were travelling to Taitung on the first day of the four-day Tomb Sweeping Festival, an annual religious festivity when people return to their hometowns for family gatherings and to worship at the graves of their ancestors.
