Ethiopia: Massive pro-government rally takes on Addis Ababa amid Tigray conflict

Thousands of protesters were seen rallying in Addis Ababa on Sunday to support the government amid the Tigray conflict.

The protesters were seen waving flags and holding anti-western media banners in Meskel Square in the centre of Addis Ababa.

One officer at the protest said, “As our government called upon us, we are ready to go war and we know our enemies from the bottom of our hearts so we will fight till the end.”

Tigrayan militants are now rapidly advancing on the capital stoking fears the city could fall.

This comes as the Federal Ethiopian government rejected recent proposals by western governments for a ceasefire.
