Gunfire and fireworks were visible over Kabul’s skyline in footage filmed late on Monday night.
Some of the last planes to carry US troops had also taken off to a backdrop of fireworks and gunfire at Kabul airport on Monday.
On August 15 the Taliban took complete control of the capital and other major cities and captured all border crossings. This was followed by a mass evacuation of foreign nationals who wished to leave Afghanistan, which would continue until August 31.
