US planes were seen evacuating foreign allies to a backdrop of bullets and fireworks being fired into the sky in Kabul on Monday night.
On August 15 the Taliban took complete control of the capital and other major cities and captured all border crossings. This was followed by a mass evacuation of foreign nationals who wished to leave Afghanistan, which would continue until August 31.
