France: 'Their problems are our problems' - Borrell welcomes upcoming EU-AU summit

High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell stressed that Europe would support Africa through difficulties, stating ‘their problems are our problems,’ during a plenary speech ahead of the EU-AU summit in Strasbourg on Tuesday.

“We have seen how much interlinked our two continents are, I’ve been saying in Kenya the other day that their problems are our problems,” Borrell said.

Borrell also stressed the importance of empowering the African youth and women, referring to the continent as having ‘young and dynamic human potential.’

The sixth European Union-African Union summit is set to take place in Brussels on February 17 and 18.
