Foreign Policy advisors met at Villa Borsig in Berlin on Thursday for a second round of talks in the so-called Normandy format.

Delegations from Germany, France, Russia, and Ukraine could be seen arriving early afternoon at the villa that belongs to the German Foreign Ministry.

According to the German government, the meeting of foreign policy advisors is a continuation of the January 26 talks in Paris focusing on the increasing tensions between Russia and Ukraine and aims to reduce said tensions and bring about de-escalation.

Western governments have reported a buildup of Russian forces on the border with Ukraine and fear an attack by Russia on the neighbouring country.

Moscow declared its recent actions were due to security concerns and demanded a ban on Ukraine entering NATO and a halt to NATO operations in several countries bordering Russia.
