Hundreds gathered to protest national COVID-19 restrictions in Munich on Wednesday, with local police seen arresting several participants.

Kaufingerstrasse and Marienplatz appeared rammed with demonstrators in opposition to the country’s current COVID-19 restrictions, as police formed lines in an attempt to cordon off the crowds.

Several protesters appeared to be detained by officers during the rally.
According to the World Health Organisation, 58,912 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in Germany on Wednesday.
