Thousands of demonstrators marched against COVID-19 restrictions and mandatory vaccinations in Magdeburg on Monday.

Crowds of participants could be seen walking through the city centre holding banners, with local police monitoring the protest.

According to police estimates, around 5,000 participated in the rally.

The newly-elected German government has recently announced plans to implement a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination mandate, which includes obligatory vaccines for health workers from March onwards.
