According to the Chempark operator Currenta, there is hardly any hope for the five missing in the chemical industrial complex explosion in the German city of Leverkusen.

With 31 injured and two people dead, the search for the missing five stays a priority over investigations into the cause of the incident. High resolution drones are currently deployed to help rescue workers with the search, since the site of the explosion is difficult to access.

Instructions to not go outside due to the danger of toxic air were recently repealed, after air measurements did not show any significant deviations in the area. The fire department advised residents to stay away from soot particles that rained down in their garden or on the street due to possible toxicity as samples are still being examined.

The explosion occurred on Tuesday morning and lead to a fire in three tanks filled with solvents causing a giant cloud of black smoke over the industrial park.
