At least 62 people have died and dozens injured after a petrol tanker exploded in Cap-Haitien on Tuesday.

A truck carrying the fuel tipped spilling the fuel and has also burned dozens of homes.

Commenting on the disaster, officials said the death toll is likely to rise as the first responders continue working on the scene. The final assessment of the damage is yet to follow.

Cap-Haitien is Haiti’s second-largest city and large port 200km (124 miles) north of the capital Port-au-Prince.
