If they speed up the process and open the lake shutters quickly then in 10 to 15 days the water will completely recede and we can go back to our homes.”

SOT, Thilakavathy, Resident (Tamil): “Because of heavy rains our houses are flooded. The nearby lake is deep enough to store more water, but this year due to excess rains, the situation is like this. Authorities and village officers regularly visit our place, but they are unable to help us because of continuous rains. They are taking care of our needs and providing food, but we need proper compensation to restart our lives.”
