President of Iran Seyed Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Mehrabad Airport in Tehran Friday morning returning from his visit to Moscow.
The president said, “Our goal is to raise $10 billion (€8.8 billion) in trade between the two countries as a first step. In the next steps, other measures can be taken.”
Referring to the role of the two countries in peace and security of the region, he added, “we are confident that today the presence of Islamic Iran, as an independent and powerful country, in the region has led to security. And the neighbouring countries have witnessed that wherever Iran was present, its presence has created security, contrary to the interference of foreigners in the region, which has always created a security problem for the region.”
The president hopes the Iranian relationship to Russia can help curb the dominance of the US dollar saying. “we can take steps to break the dollar’s dominance in monetary and banking relations so that we can continue to exchange on the national currency basis.”
The president concluded saying, “a fundamental agreement was reached to expand comprehensive, stable, and beneficial relations between the two countries. Undoubtedly, this development of bilateral relations with Russia will contribute to the security and prosperity of the two nations.”
Iran is currently facing a critical moment regarding the nuclear deal that former US president Donald Trump withdrew from.
