CSU chairman and Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Soder is set to hold a press conference in Munich on Wednesday, October 6.
The event is being held the day after the CDU/CSU alliance held their first formal round of coalition talks with the Greens. Following the meeting, Angelina Baerbock from the Greens – the likely kingmaker party in a future German government, said the discussion had been “constructive and objective” but that no decision would be reached in the coming days.
The CDU and the Christian Social Union who were running together, finished second with 24.1 percent of the vote in the German federal election held last month. They lost more than a quarter of support compared to the last election in 2017.
