Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz is holding a press conference on Saturday, October 9.

Pressure has been mounting on Kurz to resign after prosecutors launched an investigation into corruption allegations, with raids conducted across a number of locations on Wednesday.

Kurz’s government coalition partners from the Green party expressed disapproval for the chancellor following the launch of the investigation and have invited the Austrian People’s Party to announce his replacement.

During a press statement on Friday, Kurz defended his position and asserted that the allegations against him are ‘simply false.’
