Former President of Catalonia Carles Puigdemont gives a press conference in Sardinia on Saturday, September 25, to provide details on his arrest and the cancellation of a pro-Catalan demonstration previously scheduled for Sunday.

Puigdemont was detained in Sardinia on Thursday before being released. He is due to appear in court for an extradition hearing over charges of sedition.

The arrest was carried out under a Spanish international warrant on charges related to a 2017 independence referendum. A pro-Catalan protest in his support was announced following the arrest for Sunday, but was later called off by the organisers.
