LIVE: Rally honours victims of NSU on anniversary of uncovering

A rally in honour of the victims of the far-right National Socialist Underground (NSU) group and an Antifa demonstration take place on the streets of Zwickau, on Saturday, November 6. Far-right groups have announced their intention to disrupt it.

The ‘Solidarity Demonstration’ celebrates the 10th anniversary of the uncovering of the group in November 2011, and asks for the “complete clarification of the NSU’s support network.”

Members of the NSU killed nine people with migrant backgrounds across Germany between 2000 and 2009, as well as a policewoman, and committed numerous other serious crimes.

The murders committed remained shrouded in secrecy for a long period of time. Two NSU members were found dead in a caravan after a failed bank robbery in the city of Eisenach, after which the NSU’s identity was revealed, while one other member is currently serving a life sentence in jail.
