Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi answered questions regarding the situation in Afghanistan during a press briefing in Punjab, on Wednesday.
“The situation in Afghanistan is evolving. All of us and the world are watching Afghanistan right now. One satisfying thing is that so far, according to reports, the scenario has been peaceful,” he said.
The Afghan government collapsed on Sunday as Taliban forces took Kabul, with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fleeing the country.
“The international community must remain engaged with Afghanistan, asserting that Islamabad will continue to play a facilitative role to bring political settlement in the war-torn neighbouring country.”
Many countries opted for evacuating diplomatic personnel and citizens from Afghanistan due to the unstable security situation. The US has evacuated its embassy staff from the capital.
